Single Audit Readiness Review

Know exactly where you stand before fieldwork starts.

Send us your auditor’s request list with your notes and a few written answers. We map every line and tell you what’s ready, what’s missing, who owns it and what to fix first.

About an hour of your team’s time · No documents · Written report

Who it’s for

You’re not sure what you’re missing, and you want an expert to look before your auditor does.

The free check tells you where the usual gaps are. The Review goes line by line through your auditor’s actual request list.

It’s the right step when fieldwork is coming, the list is long, and you need to decide whether your team can handle it, what to hand off, and what to ask your CPA.

What you get

A written plan built from your own request list.

01

Request map

Every line with its owner, location and status, and a plain note on what an auditor usually expects to see for it.

02

Top five risks

The items most likely to delay fieldwork or come back as a finding, tied to your own public audit history on the Federal Audit Clearinghouse and the areas usually tested for your major programs.

03

Recommended path

Do it yourselves with the Workbook or Binder Kit (with the exact sections to use), a scoped Audit-Prep Sprint, or specific questions to put to your CPA or auditor.

04

Optional 20-minute call

Within 14 days of the report, to answer questions. No screen share, and you never need to take it.

What you send

Your list and your answers. Nothing else.

  1. Your auditor’s request list for this year, or last year’s if the new one hasn’t arrived. No list? We send you a standard Single Audit request list to use.
  2. Next to each line: who owns it, where it lives (system or folder name), and whether it’s ready, partly ready, missing or unknown.
  3. Answers to twelve short written questions.

No documents. Please send no supporting documents, financial records or personal information. The Review works from your list and your answers, so its findings are “status as reported by you.” Checking the documents themselves is what the Sprint does.

The twelve questions

  1. Fiscal year end, and the auditor’s planned fieldwork dates if known.
  2. Total federal expenditures for the year (a round number is fine).
  3. Which programs you expect to be major programs, if your auditor has said.
  4. Did last year’s Single Audit report any findings? If so, what has changed since?
  5. Who prepares the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards, and from what system?
  6. How are payroll costs charged to grants, and how is time certified?
  7. Do you pass money to subrecipients? How many, and how are they monitored?
  8. How are purchases over your micro-purchase threshold documented?
  9. How are equipment purchases with federal funds tracked?
  10. Who reconciles grant drawdowns to the general ledger, and how often?
  11. What went slowest in last year’s audit?
  12. Who will be your main contact, and how many hours a week can your team give audit prep?
Questions

Before you ask for one

How is this different from the free check?

The free Readiness Score compares your answers with a general checklist. The Review works from your auditor’s actual request list, line by line, and ends with a written plan for your organization.

How is it different from the Sprint?

The Review maps and prioritizes, from your list and your answers. The Sprint does the work: it assembles and cross-checks your records into an indexed binder. If you go on to a Sprint within 60 days of your report, the full $750 counts toward it.

What’s the scope?

One organization, one fiscal year, one request list of up to 100 lines, and one round of written follow-up questions. Larger lists get a quote before anything starts.

How do we pay?

After your request, we send a short engagement letter covering scope, exclusions, the credit and how your information is handled. You accept it by reply, then pay through a secure payment link before work starts. An invoice is available on request.

What isn’t it?

Not an audit, attestation or opinion, and not accounting, legal or tax advice. We don’t rebuild records, make compliance determinations, or speak to your auditor for you. Audit Ready Grants is not a CPA firm. Your information is never sent to an AI or outside processing service.
